A Car That Runs On Air?

by inotes on January 31, 2013

I’ve had a long ongoing fascination with alternative energy sources. I don’t know why, it’s just something that has fascinated me. And of course if you can take alternative energy and apply it to cars, that’s even cooler.

So we all know about electric cars and many of us have read the stories about bio diesel or even running your car off used vegetable.

However I thought that I would link you to this very interesting article that I dug up the other day; that talks about a car that can run on air. Yes, literally a car that can run on air. Many of you would be surprised to know that air cars are actually nothing new, they have been around for a really long time.

This article fascinated me so much and answered many of the questions that come to mind when you think of a car running on compressed air, such as – is it safe, what happens when you get into an accident? How far can you go? How fast can you go? Also, is running a car on air truly zero emissions? As you learn about in the article, it is not. However, it could be close, especially if you are driving under 35 miles per hour.

Air Pod

Apparently some of the versions of air cars can run on full compressed air up to 35 miles/ hour, after that they would rely on a small engine to get the car going above that speed.

I don’t claim to fully understand all there is to know about air cars, therefore I’m going to link you to this article, which I think it is absolutely fascinating. I’ve found that most inventors are very inquisitive people and I think that this article will interest the average inventor as to what the future holds for cars and alternative energy.

So, please enjoy this article and give it a click.
